Brian’s Hawaiians LIVE, Feb 5

Brian’s Hawaiians kicks off the first night of LIVE music form 7-8 pm over at The Listening Room at Studio IX (969 2nd SE, next door to Carpe Cafe) as part of this year’s Folk Marathon. Brian’s Hawaiians might wear aloha shirts but they’re not a Jimmy Buffet cover band. Their repertoire is probably best described as retro-tropical, with a heavy sampling of traditional Hawaiian songs, mixed with the sounds of mid 20c. mainland tiki culture, dipping into Exotica and Bossa Nova, and throwing in a few surprises along the way. So if you can’t get away to the Islands, you can still let Brian and his crew of faux Hawaiians take you where the humuhumunukunukuapua’a goes swimming by.
