WXTJ 100.1 FM seeks high school DJs in summer 2026
By WTJU
While most UVA students are away for the summer, WXTJ 100.1 FM is inviting local high school students to apply to be summer DJs. This is an unpaid volunteer opportunity.
WXTJ is freeform radio, so students are not bound to just one genre of music. If selected, DJs will be assigned to a 1- or 2-hour time slot once a week from June 8 – August 7.
Student hosts will be expected to:
- Show up every week for their 1-hour time slot
- Register any conflicts a week in advance
- Come prepared with 1 hour of music to play
- Follow all FCC, UVA and WTJU/WXTJ rules and guidelines on air
- Agree to abide by the WTJU Code of Conduct
- Provide their own transportation to and from the WXTJ studio at 2244 Ivy Road, Charlottesville, VA
The deadline for applications is midnight on May 3. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis after this deadline until all 30 spots in the program schedule are filled.
Hands-on training sessions will be provided the week of June 8-12.
