Rum Cove’s 45 RPM Label History: Stax

By Rum Cove

This series is designed to give you a visual representation of the many labels that The Rum Cove features on his long running Soulful Situation broadcast, which airs Mondays, 12 – 2 p.m., on WTJU 91.1 FM or streaming at wtju.net.

The Stax label of Memphis signed an ill fated distribution deal with Atlantic in 1962, which, when it ended in 1968,, led to Atlantic owning all their material. Stax then had to start from scratch. The sleeve was used from 1965 to 1969.
