Ramona & the Holy Smokes at The Stage

By WTJU

Date: 09/22/2025

Time: 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Ramona and the Holy Smoke will be releasing their debut full album on September 26, so as a way of celebrating will put on a special concert at WTJU’s own Stage during the final hour of Back Up and Push on the 22nd. You can find out more about the album and the band at their website.

This is a free event, open to all. You can also listen to their visit on the radio (91.1 FM) or on our web player, and even video stream it at WTJU’s YouTube channel. But concerts always sound better with you as part of the studio audience.  WTJU is located at 2244 Ivy Rd in Charlottesville, right next door to Vivace.  There is plenty of parking, both in our lot as well as the Sentara lot next door.

At the center of Ramona and the Holy Smokes’ self-titled debut LP is a question of desire and fantasy; dreaming about making it out of the circumstances that might be holding anyone back, whether it be financial, emotional, or psychological….That balanced, light-hearted execution of thoughtful, poignant songwriting makes Ramona and the Holy Smokes—which Martinez says “wrestles with the spell this fantasy can cast over your life”—a good listen for both the ups and the downs; a reminder of both where you’ve come from and where you want to be.
