Born in 2016 out of the remains of The Smashcasters (2002-2013), XSmashcasters are a dual Charlottesville–Richmond, Virginia-based old-school punk band whose style is influenced by 1970s New York & English punk, street punk, mod, power pop, proto-punk, post-punk, bovver glam, Oi!, gothic rock, new wave, soul, and rock ‘n’ roll.

The band features former members of classic central-Virginia punk, hardcore, and gothic outfits The Counselors (Charlottesville, VA), The Halfways (Richmond, VA), Unit F (Charlottesville, VA), In Tenebris (Charlottesville, VA), and If/Then (Richmond, VA).

The members of XSmashcasters are Angelo DeFranzo (bass), Shawn Stagner (drums), Ryan Nowlan (vocals), and J.J. Williams (guitar).

The band is currently supporting the release of its record “Tokyo Rose”.
