Monica Worth will stop by WTJU this Tuesday afternoon, May 17, around 12:30 to chat with Gary Funston about the We Play for Ukraine jazz benefit at the Whiskey Jar on Wednesday evening, May 18.
When young jazz students near the besieged city of Mariupol sent a plea to support the people of Ukraine, a group of Charlottesville jazz musicians jumped in to help. The Whiskey Jar stepped up to sponsor and leading musicians signed up to play.
The result is “We Play for Ukraine,” an evening of outstanding jazz, on Wednesday, May 18, from 6:30-10:30 P.M. on Charlottesville’s Downtown Mall, outside The Whiskey Jar.
Donations will be collected onsite and online for top-rated charity, Global Giving’s, Ukraine Crisis Relief Fund – supplying humanitarian aid to communities in Ukraine and surrounding regions where refugees have fled.
