The Silver Screen Soundtrack Hour – Raiders of the Lost Ark: Deep Dive

By Ken Nail

Film music sets the mood and helps elicit the emotional responses that make a good movie a great movie. Each week on CharlottesvilleClassical.org, The Silver Screen Soundtrack Hour takes a listen to music from the wide world of film scores.

Harrison Ford weighs the possibilities…

This week we’ll take an in-depth listen to one of John Williams’ finest scores, Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981). Williams’ work for this film is a showcase for his strengths as a composer, as he interweaves a variety of leitmotifs throughout the film, guiding the audience through the action and linking characters and motives to a series of memorable musical moments.

Join us for this in-depth listen to one of my favorite film scores!

Produced and hosted by Ken Nail, The Silver Screen Soundtrack Hour airs on Charlottesvilleclassical.org every Thursday at 9 AM and 6 PM, plus Saturdays at Noon. You can enjoy previous editions of the show by visiting mixcloud.com/cvilleclassical
