Rum Cove’s 45 RPM Label History: Scepter Records

By Rum Cove

This series is designed to give you a visual representation of the many labels that The Rum Cove features on his long running Soulful Situation broadcast.

Scepter Record was a New York City label founded in 1959 by tough New Jersey businesswoman, Florence Greenburg. Their biggest success came with The Shirelles but they released many fine Uptown Soul records until the label was sold upon her retirement in 1976.
