2026 WTJU Rock Marathon is a Sound Explosion

By WTJU Rock

Date: 04/20/2026 - 04/28/2026

Time: 6:00 am - 6:00 am

For those about to rock, we invite you to. . . the 2026 WTJU Rock Marathon, a weeklong fundraiser airing April 20th thru the 26th!

The 24-hour-a-day sound explosion is designed to raise money for WTJU 91.1 FM, one of the few non-commercial radio stations remaining on the radio dial. Tune in to 91.1 FM, stream wtju.net, or listen via the new WTJU mobile app.

WTJU’s volunteer DJs will offer a week of specialty programs to stimulate the senses and explore a vast root system of sub-genres in the great field of rock. Please give today to help keep your favorite station sprouting free form programming that commercial radio can’t replicate.

The 2026 Rock Marathon has a vibrant and varied line up of programs – everything from Chuck Berry to Talking Heads, A Black Woman Hall of Fame to The Jamaican Roadmap to Rap, Ska Punk to Bi-coastal Psych, Pavement 101 to P-Funk, and so much more. The fundraiser will also feature SEVEN live performances on our stage at 2244 Ivy Road and at IX Art Park, including local and national acts, an EDM dance party, and the return of the MRC retrospective.

It’s a fact that when most public radio stations are in pledge drives, listenership drops. But when WTJU airs one of its special music marathons, the audience grows. Alumni DJs return and community members step up to host programs. It’s a week of deep dives, themed content, and joyful collaboration. The musical knowledge and passion of WTJU’s hosts is extremely palpable during marathons.

As WTJU powers on in the wake of federal funding loss, you can help keep the boat afloat while basking in the spectacular sounds of excellent and unique music. WTJU’s 2026 Rock Marathon welcomes you aboard. Be a part of this community as we rock the airwaves! Tune in, Donate, or Drop by and please give today. Your support keeps community radio active and alive!
