April Verch and Cody Walters make their way through Passages and Partings
Time: 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Canadian fiddler April Verch and multi-instrumentalist Cody Walters (from Kansas) will stop by Sunset Road April 14 to go track by track through their new album, Passages and Partings. Sunset Road airs Friday afternoon from 4-6 at 91.1FM and online at wtju.net.
Husband and wife April & Cody are a true partnership of kindred musical spirits. Combining their unique backgrounds from Verch’s native Ottawa Valley and Walters’ heartland roots in Kansas, their music showcases endless creativity and versatility—be it regional Canadian roots, American old-time, 50’s Country, or something original that sounds as though it’s been around for a century—the one common thread is their love and reverence for the music and traditions that have been passed down to them.
‘Passages and Partings’ features special guests and acoustic music icons Pharis & Jason Romero (British Columbia) and Betse & Clarke (Kansas) and though April and Cody have been playing together for 15 years, this is their first official duo album.
April and Cody began playing together in 2007 when Cody joined the April Verch Band as their bassist. Together they have traveled to four continents, performed in eighteen countries, and played everywhere from tiny pubs and dusty festival workshops all the way to legendary stages such as the Kennedy Center and the Ryman Auditorium.
