By WTJU

This Sunday’s guest on Offstage, On-Air is Fiona Hughes, artistic director and violinist for Three Notch’d Road, The Virginia Baroque Ensemble

Named for a colonial route through central Virginia, Three Notch’d Road: The Virginia Baroque Ensemble specializes in the performance of historical repertoires from both sides of the Atlantic. Three Notch’d Road’s 2022-23 season is called ‘The Four Corners of Europe’ and explores music from the eastern, western, northern and southern parts of the continent.

On November 4-6, Three Notch’d will perform early music from eastern Europe, including Serbia, Turkey, Greece, Poland, Russia, and Ukraine, as well as a piece by living Estonian composer Arvo Part. These concerts will be performed in Staunton (November 4), Richmond (November 5) and Keswick (November 6). Learn more here.

On December 2-4, Three Notch’d performs music of Advent and Christmas from France, England, the Netherlands and Belgium. The ensemble will perform this concert in Waynesboro (December 2), Keswick (December 3) and Richmond (December 4).

Each week, Offstage, On-Air brings members of the local classical music community into the WTJU studio for conversations and curated playlists.
