Guitarist Jeff Massanari has been an amazing addition to the Central VA jazz scene. A very accomplished player and fiery soloist, he has released a number of albums and played with an impressive roster of jazz heavy hitters. His Tuesday residency at Rapture has become must listening. For the live show he has a strong ensemble featuring Eric Franzen on keyboard, Karl Kimmel on bass and Pat Hayes on drums. We can’t think of a better way to kick off our seven nights of live music as part of this year’s Jazz Marathon.
This is a free event (but is part of the WTJU Jazz Marathon so donations are gladly accepted and encouraged), open to all. You can also listen on the radio (91.1 FM) or on our web player, and even video stream it at WTJU’s YouTube channel. But concerts always sound better with you as part of the studio audience. WTJU is located at 2244 Ivy Rd in Charlottesville, right next door to Vivace. There is plenty of parking, both in our lot as well as the Sentara lot next door. Do please note that you should not park in the lower lot by Shenandoah Joe and Pico Wraps as they enforce towing.
