WTJU 91.1 FM

The Nicole Mitchell Trio will kick off the first night of concerts as part of this year’s Jazz Marathon. She will be joined by Adam Hopkins on bass and JoVia Armstrong on percussion. Mitchell is an award-winning creative flutist, composer, bandleader and educator. She is perhaps best known for her work as a flutist, having developed a unique improvisational language and having been repeatedly awarded “Top Flutist of the Year” by Downbeat Magazine Critics Poll and the Jazz Journalists Association (2010-2022).

This is a free event, open to all. You can also listen to the concert on the radio (91.1 FM) or on our web player, and even video stream it at WTJU’s YouTube channel. But concerts always sound better with you as part of the studio audience.  WTJU is located at 2244 Ivy Rd in Charlottesville, right next door to Vivace.  There is plenty of parking, both in our lot as well as the Sentara lot next door.
