By WTJU

Name: Dave Moore

Show: Ye Olde Tuesday Afternoon Rocke Show

Day Job: Artist / painter

How long have you been a host at WTJU? 11 years

Why did you become a WTJU host?
The slippery slope from listener to supporter to dj.

What do you want to share with the world?
A consistently good mixtape for any given day through shifting seasons, weather, and prevailing moods.

If you could interview anyone on air, dead or alive, who would it be?
Mike Ladd for living, Hunter S. Thompson for dead… because both are (were) hyper-intelligent and funny with the ability to see the present and its future implications clearly decades before the general public.

What are your guilty pleasures (Music or otherwise)?
Steely Dan, dumb action movies

How has it felt being a radio host during this pandemic?
Vital

What are your passions outside of music?
Art, domestic lyfe, cooking, guitar, strange yard projects, leisure sports

Why does WTJU matter?
Independent non-commercial, free-form host-curated non-algorithm-based music and media is more crucial than ever, and should be protected as a basic resource.

How have you seen WTJU change in your time here? How have you seen Charlottesville change?
I have seen WTJU bloom into the tech-savvy worldwide entity it has become even as we have managed to engage even more deeply with our local community, not to mention moving the entire station to its new sweet location.

Would you rather be trapped in an elevator with a banjo player, a bagpipes player, or an accordion player?
The swift crushing death down the elevator shaft please

Would you rather listen to a Bach motet scored for electric guitars, or Metallica’s “Enter Sandman” scored for chamber choir?
The first one. Probably would sound like Unknown Mortal Orchestra.
