Arts This Week: Winter Review!

For our final edition of Arts This Week in 2024, we’ve decided to give an overview of some holiday events here in Charlottesville. 

Visible Records and Infinite Repeats are hosting a Winter Market everyday from now through December 25th featuring local artists and vintage vendors. The market will be open from 11am to 5pm at 1740 Broadway Street – with extended hours until 7pm on Monday and Saturday. More information is available at www.visible-records.com

The Charlottesville Ballet presents several showings of The Nutcracker at the Martin Luther King Jr. Performing Arts Center on December 21st and 22nd. There will also be a Sensory Friendly abridged showing on the 23rd. More information and tickets can be found at www.charlottesvilleballet.org

If you are looking to get crafty this winter season, the Scrappy Elephant is hosting a variety of workshops over the winter break. There is a Holiday Sewing Workshop on December 19th; A Granny Square Crochet Workshop on December 21st;A Printmaking with Lego’s Workshop on December 23rd; and A Basic Crochet 101 Workshop on December 28th. The Week of December 30th through January 3rd brings their Winter-Break Mini-Camp for crafters in 1st to 5th grade from 9am to noon. The Kluge-Ruhe Aboriginal Art Collection features Milpa: stop-motion animation by Spinifex Artists from now through next summer. The Collection will be closed on December 24th, 25th, 31st, and January 1st. For more information, visit www.kluge-ruhe.org
