An Evening with Bruno Walter

By Ralph Graves

This Wednesday, Mar. 26, at 9:00 am, Analog Masters features conductor Bruno Walter

Other podium giants of the time yelled, stomped their feet, and generally behaved like the spoiled brats they were. Not Bruno Walter. He spoke calmly and gently, treating his players like beloved colleagues.

In consequence, Walter was able to achieve extraordinary results that few, if any of his contemporaries could match.

In this hour we turn the host chair over to maestro Walter so he may introduce you to four of his favorite scores from a 1958 Columbia Record Club LP titled An Evening With Bruno Walter. Musical selections include Strauss’s Don Juan and Mozart’s 40th Symphony as recorded by Walter with the New York Philharmonic.
