Allen Lowe Interview on All That Jazz, Thursday 2/15 at 10:00AM

Allen Lowe, alto sax player, composer, historian and author will be in the studio on Thursday 2/15 for a wide-ranging interview with announcer Rus Perry, host of Jazz at 100.

Lowe, a provocative chronicler of American culture, is the author of numerous books on music history, such as:

That Devlin’ Tune, A Jazz History 1900 – 1950
God Didn’t Like It: Electric Hillbillies, Singing Preachers, and the Beginning of Rock and Roll, 1950-1970
American Pop – From Minstrel to Mojo On Record 1893-1956

Lowe is in Charlottesville for a Charlottesville Jazz Society / WTJU presentation of the Shipp/Lowe/Ray/Cleaver Quartet at the Thomas Jefferson Memorial Church. Lowe will perform with highly-regarded veteran pianist Matthew Shipp, along with first call jazz drummer Gerald Cleaver and bassist Kevin Ray. The concert will be on Thursday February 15th at 7:30 pm.
