    Notes: One of the most important figures in contemporary South American music, Dino Saluzzi was born in Campo Santo in North Argentina and led his first group at the age of 14. He began to play professionally while studying in Buenos Aires. His ECM discography was launched in 1982 with the solo album Kultrum, a spontaneous example of the bandoneonist's art as "storyteller"; this marked the first of many "imaginary returns" to the towns and villages of his childhood.

    Notes: Raymond Antrobus and Evelyn Glennie's return with a new album, Aloud, part two of the collaboration between two of the most famous, living deaf artists in the world. Produced again by Grammy-winner, Ian Brennan (Tinariwen, Zomba Prison Project, Ustad Saami, Parchman Prison Project), the album was recorded 100% live in a single UK afternoon without rehearsal and with almost every track being a first take. Glennie's parts were 100% improvised without her having prior knowledge of any poem performed.

    Notes: One of the most popular Mexican ska bands from the 1990s, La Tremenda Korte, released a rhythmic cover of 'Lawrence de Arabia,'originally by Spanish pop rock band Hombres G. 'Lawrence de Arabia' is the third single of La Tremenda Korte's upcoming album, 'Resistencia Sonora', which aligns with their 30th anniversary.
16. "Palace au soleil" - Arnold - French Groove [Putumayo: 2025]
    Notes: Jérémie Arnold, known professionally as Arnold, is a singer-songwriter based in La Rochelle, France. Since 2005, he has released seven albums that draw from the traditions of French chanson, with lyrical and musical influences from iconic artists such as Georges Brassens and Serge Gainsbourg.

    Notes: The Loire Valley Calypsos is a bold and inventive French band blending diverse musical influences like psychedelia, Caribbean rhythms, disco and French chanson into a unique, genre-defying sound.
18. "Ghost Town" - 47 Soul - Dualism Part 1 [Cooking Vinyl: 2025]
    Notes: 47SOUL single-handedly sowed the seeds of the Shamstep genre. The Palestinian musical collective formed in Jordan in 2013 with Tareq Abu Kwaik, Ramzy Suleiman, Walaa Sbait and Hamza Arnaout taking influence from hip-hop, electronica, and R&B and melding it with the sounds of Dabke, a traditional folk dance, and other Shaa'bi roots music from the Levantine region.
19. "Me estoy casando de ti" - Sofi Mayen - Normal [Altafonte: 2025]
    Notes: 'Me Estoy Cansando De Ti' is also a way of recognizing who brings us peace and growth, of distancing ourselves from toxic relationships of all kinds, of being authentic, open, strong-willed, and - why not? - spiritually empowered. It's a very frank and forthright song, but realistic about ourselves.
20. "Quando o Samba Acabu" - Arthur de Faria/Pedro Longes - Canciones con Drama [YB: 2025]
    Notes: The album's sound is steeped in the southern cone of South America, where piano, voices, mandolin, bombo legüero, and synthesizers collide.

    Notes: Seattle-based Polyrhythmics are celebrating 15 years of sonic exploration with the release of their highly anticipated new album, Life from Below. I liked the way Jean changed the ending; leaves it more up to the listener." According to a later biography, Mingus was a fan of Shepherd's radio show on WOR and outlined a concept for Shepherd but encouraged him to elaborate and improvise.
