Date: 07/11/2025

Time: 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Brandon Wayne & His Lonesome Drifters, the east coast’s finest up and coming rockin’ hillbilly and honky tonk band, will pull into Offbeat Roadhouse Friday night, July 11, for a concert which will also be broadcast on WTJU. This powerhouse quartet is a modern day blast from the past.

This is a free event, open to all. You can also listen to Offbeat Roadhouse on the radio (91.1 FM) or on-line, and even video stream it at WTJU’s YouTube channel.  But concerts always sound better with you as part of the studio audience.  WTJU is located at 2244 Ivy Rd in Charlottesville, right next door to Vivace.  There is plenty of parking, both in our lot as well as the Sentara lot next door.

Offbeat Roadhouse is supported by Plan 9 Music in Charlottesville’s Seminole Square Shopping Center and in Carytown, Richmond, or online at plan9music.comPlan 9 – supporting the independent music community for over 40 years.

This powerhouse quartet is a modern day blast from the past. Their shows are a smoking hot mix of Brandon Wayne’s superb originals and choice covers in the style of early to mid-20thcentury classic vintage country, rockabilly, hillbilly boogie and western swing along with original surf instrumentals.

Wayne’s gorgeous salty sweet twang has echoes of George Jones meets Hank Williams, and it is truly one of the finest hillbilly voices on the scene today. It’s dance music of the highest order so rest up because you won’t want to sit down. With the three additional Southern gents who makeup the band–Charles “King” Arthur, Nick “Powers” Schrenk and Matias Camino—their sound has the Virginia bloodlines of familiar idols such as Gene Vincent and Link Wray. But a lifetime exploring the wide universe of lesser-known hillbilly and rockabilly greats brings a wealth of deep covers to the table, taking us to the well spring of rural American music. It’s an education, a revelation, and a swingin’ celebration. Many roots and rockabilly bands do a fine job paying homage to this music. Brandon Wayne and His Lonesome Drifters are the real deal.
