By WTJU

Date: 05/05/2023

Time: 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Local fiddler and tunesmith Jim Childress will stop by WTJU to go track by track through his third and latest release, Fly Away. In addition to Jim’s fiddling, the cd features his long-time band mates in Uncle Henry’s Favorites, Pete & Ellen Vigour and Mark Beall, as well as old-time luminaries Adam Hurt & Beth Williams Hartness, and Canadian banjoist Arnie Naiman. With Uncle Henry’s Favorites, Jim has appeared on NPR’s A Prairie Home Companion and has placed numerous times in the finals of West Virgnia’s Appalachian String Band Festival Traditional Band competition. Jim’s fiddle tunes are highly regarded in traditional music circles, and widely played all over the US and abroad.

Sunset Road airs Friday from 4-7 at 91.1FM and streaming at wtju.net.
