How long have you been a host at WTJU? Since summer 2004
Why should someone tune into your show in particular?
I pretty much just want to share good vibes and a wide variety of good tunes that fit the day’s weather.
Tell us about one of your biggest gaffs while in the studio:
At another station – an NPR affiliate with quite a large audience – I dropped an angry, very audible f-bomb on the mic during Weekend Edition.
What are your guilty pleasures (Music or otherwise)?
I don’t believe in musical guilty pleasures – but I do feel guilty when I order anything from Amazon. I let my Prime account elapse recently and that felt good.
How has it felt being a radio host during this pandemic?
It has felt much the same, to be honest. I just wish there were live shows to hear new bands and of course, see all the lovely Charlottesville people…
Why does WTJU matter?
WTJU matters because it supplies variety on the radio. Monoculture is bad, in foodways and on airwaves.
OPTIONAL: Would you rather be trapped in an elevator with a banjo player, a bagpipes player, or an accordion player?
I’d rather be trapped with a banjo or accordion player because I would like to learn both of them, and you can control their volume somewhat, unlike bagpipes. I’d like to learn bagpipes too, but not in an elevator.
