You Don’t Know Me

By Ralph Graves

Do the names Santoliquido, Fachiri, Haskil, and Graudan ring a bell? Probably not. ON Wednesday, April 9, at 9:00 am Analog Masters features rare recordings by these artists of music by Cambini, Beethoven, Schumann, and Mendelssohn.

In the first of a series of programs devoted to women in classical music, we focus on four remarkable artists that have been almost entirely forgotten today.

Ornella Santoliquido was born in Florence but was soon acclaimed in Europe and the US. She plays a delightful Cambini Concerto.

Bartok dedicated both his violin sonatas to Adila Fachiri. We revive her 1928 recording of Beethoven’s 10th Sonata. Also, Romanian pianist Clara Haskil plays Schumann, and Joanna Graudan performs Mendelssohn’s Capriccio Brilliant
