WTJX Gets a New Name and a New Tower

It turns out that WTJX is actually an NPR-affiliated station in the Virgin Islands so our student station has spent the last several months searching for a suitable alternative callsign. WASP, WTJR , WTOP, WTJT, WTJO..Nothing was quite right. Turns out, the answer was in front of their eyes the whole time:

WXTJ

So our student radio station WTJX will now officially go by WXTJ. Not only that but soon they’ll be broadcasting over FM at 100.1 FM for Charlottesville residents!  It’s only been a couple years but the students have been hard at work building a true college radio station.  You’ll have to wait until the start of the Fall 2015 semester to hear WXTJ DJs but the wait will undoubtedly be worth it!
