WTJU launches new weekly segment, “The Revolution, Right Here”

By Nathan Moore

Last weekend, people across America celebrated the 250th anniversary of the United States with fireworks, cookouts, a naturalization ceremony, historic printmaking, and more. Here at WTJU, we are marking America’s semiquincentennial with a new weekly radio series.

The Revolution, Right Here is a weekly ode to the Charlottesville region’s vital contribution to American War for Independence. As part of America’s 250th anniversary, take a moment to hear about Virginia’s patriots, spirited events, and critical clashes — from Jefferson’s Declaration of Independence in 1776 to the British surrender at Yorktown in 1782.

The Revolution, Right Here airs on WTJU 91.1 FM on Mondays 12 p.m. & 7 p.m. You can listen online at the Virginia Audio Collective site, or subscribe via RSS or in Apple Podcasts or Spotify. This 2-minute segment will run from July through late 2026. It is produced by the Albemarle Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution. It is written by Barbara Brownell Grogan and hosted by Wendy Smith.
