This Friday on World Turning Ron will be welcoming Oud player, Sheikh Abed Manasra. Sheikh Manasra is a leader of the Abrahamic Reunion — a peace-building non-governmental organization in Israel / Palestine. In addition to some authentic music, Abed and Ron will have a discussion regarding the work of the Abrahamic Reunion.
Abed Alsalam Manasra is a musician and peace worker from Nazareth, Israel. As a musician, Abed plays the oud, an ancient instrument that is the ancestor of the lute. The oud allows great subtlety of expression and has long been associated with mystical music. Abed is also an ordained Sheikh in the Tariqat Qadriyya As-Salaam (Qadiri Sufi Order Of Peace). As a peace worker, Abed brings together leaders from diverse faiths and communities to promote dialogue, connection, understanding, healing and trust. Abed also brings ordinary people—Muslims, Christians, Jews, Samaritans, Druze—together for dinners and conversation. Thousands have attended these events in Israel and Palestine.
The Abrahamic Reunion works to build sustainable peace with diverse faith communities in the Holy Land. They foster harmony by exploring common Abrahamic values in order to create deep and lasting connections between people.
