Silvestrov: Works for Solo Piano

Monday, January 20 the third installment of “Valentin Silvestrov: A Composer’s Journey” airs on CharlottesvilleClassical.org. This episode surveys 60 years of Silvestrov’s solo piano compositions.

It features a new 2-CD set by Boris Berman, a long-time friend and colleague of the composer. After the Russian invasion of Ukraine, but before he made the recording, Berman had the opportunity to sit with Silvestrov. Berman consulted the composer on the interpretation of every piece on the recording.
