We’re rekindling Charlottesville Classical on WTJU 91.1 FM

Starting next Monday, July 13, WTJU’s classical department becomes Charlottesville Classical, your arts companion for our community.

It’s radio for lovers of good music and curious seekers of new musical experiences. It’s radio for people who value our local community — yet who sometimes need a break from the bleakest of the news.

It’s radio for people like you.

Charlottesville Classical will ease you into your day with classical music every weekday morning, 5 – 9 a.m., presented by your friends and neighbors.

Each weekday, we’ll bring you short interviews with classical artists and organizations — our interview with Charlottesville Symphony conductor Ben Rous airs next week. Plus composer features, new classical album reviews, and an opera spotlight.

You’ll also hear weekly arts features from UVA’s Creative Writing program, the Fralin and Kluge-Ruhe museums, Virginia Film Festival, and many more.

Evening and weekend classical programs will continue to provide deep dives into special classical sub-genres.

PLUS: Later this summer, we’re relaunching the Charlottesville Classical website and its 24/7 local classical radio stream. The site will serve as a hub for local classical music, and offer a fresh, locally hosted classical service around the clock.

Please join us for the newly rekindled Charlottesville Classical on WTJU. Check out WTJU’s full schedule.
