Ramona leaves the Holy Smokes behind for a visit to WTJU

Ramona Martinez, bandleader for Ramona & the Holy Smokes, will stop by WTJU this Tuesday afternoon for a special solo session during Around This Town. She will be sharing the stage with Sunny Sweeney this Thursday, August 6, at the Southern in Charlottesville. Around This Town airs Tuesday afternoon from 4-6 (eastern) at 91.1FM, online at wtju.net, and using the WTJU app.
Ramona Martinez is a honky tonker based in Charlottesville, Virginia, whose music recalls classic country from the 1950s and 60s. A prolific singer-songwriter, her sincere and heartfelt music has been described as “incredibly relatable” and “earnest.” She also pulls from her tejana roots to perform and compose traditional Mariachi music in a Country Western style. Martinez was listed as one of the “15 Latino Artists Shaping Country Music” by Wide Open Country. Martinez currently fronts the up-and-coming honky tonk band, Ramona and the Holy Smokes.
