Highlander String Band at Offbeat Roadhouse, August 6

The Highlander String Band will pull into Offbeat Roadhouse Friday night, August 6, for a concert which will also be broadcast on WTJU.  The Highlander String Band is a collection of Rockingham County musicians playing traditional Appalachian Mountain music.  They play the Top Ten Tunes of the 50’s and 60’s – 1850 that is.  They play all types of music from instrumental dance tunes, such as jigs, reels, hornpipes and waltzes, to the slow, mournful and powerful tunes depicting the sorrow and tragedy of frontier mountain life.

This is a free event, open to all. Masks are required for attendees who are not fully vaccinated.  You can also listen to Offbeat Roadhouse on the radio (91.1 FM) or on-line, and even video stream it.  But concerts always sound better with you as part of the studio audience.

Offbeat Roadhouse takes place each Friday night from 8-9 (doors open at 7:30) from WTJU’s performance venue, conveniently located at 2244 Ivy Road in Charlottesville (right next to Vivace Restaurant).
