Offstage, On-Air is a weekly show highlighting central Virginia’s vibrant classical music community. Each week you’ll hear conversations with local classical musicians, learn about upcoming concerts, and enjoy artist-curated playlists. This week’s guest will be Benjamin Roe, President and CEO of the Heifetz International Music Institute, as well as the three exceptional young string players who are the 2022-23 Heifetz Ensemble in Residence Session I participants: Carlos Rafael Martinez Arroyo, Joseph Skerik, and Serge Kalinovsky.
Each week, Offstage, On-Air brings members of the local classical music community into the WTJU studio for conversations and curated playlists. This week’s guest is Benjamin Roe, President and CEO of the Heifetz International Music Institute at Mary Baldwin University.
Joining Benjamin are three exceptional young string players who are the 2022-23 Heifetz Ensemble in Residence Session I participants: Carlos Rafael Martinez Arroyo, Joseph Skerik, and Serge Kalinovsky. Besides speaking with these young musicians, we’ll also enjoy an exclusive performance on the WTJU stage.The Heifitz Institute is presenting a new concert series in 2022-23 called Heifetz Here & Now. This chamber music series held at Mary Baldwin University’s Francis Auditorium features truly world-renowned Heifetz faculty artists joined by outstanding the young musicians of the Heifetz Ensemble in Residence. The six concerts in this new series run from October through May, and are each at 3pm on Sunday afternoons.
On Sunday, November 6, the institute welcomes legendary violinist Ani Kavafian, performing music by Bach, Dohnanyi, Mozart, Turina and Dvorak.
