Tune in Sunday from noon to 1:00pm here on WTJU (91.1 FM and streaming at wtju.net).
This week’s guest will be Benjamin Rous, Music Director of the Charlottesville Symphony at the University of Virginia. He will chat with WTJU classical director Brian Simalchik about the orchestra’s 48th season kicking off September 24 and 25 with “Sonic Spheres“.
The 2022-23 season will be the orchestra’s first full season since the COVID-19 pandemic. Programs include Dvorak’s ‘New World’ Symphony, Beethoven’s Violin Concerto and Brahms’ Third Symphony. The season opening concerts on September 24 and 25, titled “Sonic Spheres,” feature works by Brahms, Schubert, Saint-Saens and Grammy-nominated composer Missy Mazzoli. The orchestra’s Principal Bassoonist, Elizabeth Roberts, is the featured soloist in Hummel’s Bassoon Concerto.
