Eric Vloeimans & Will Holshouser leave the Netherlands for the Stage, Sept 15

Dutch Jazz trumpeter Eric Vloeimans & accordionist Will Holshouser will stop by The Stage this Thursday afternoon, September 15, at 4 (edt) for a special live session to kick off Folk & Beyond (heard every Thursday from 4-7pm). As a special treat, they will also chat with the hosts of Living Time the previous evening between 7 and 9pm. You can listen to both programs at 91.1 FM and online at wtju.net. You can also video stream their live musical session at WTJU’s Facebook page and YouTube channel.

You can catch Eric and Will in person Thursday evening, September 15, at the new Irving Theater in the CODE building in downtown Charlottesville for a concert sponsored by Charlottesville Jazz Society in partnership with WTJU.

On Thursday evening September 15th at 7:30 pm, The Charlottesville Jazz Society is pleased to welcome back Dutch trumpeter Eric Vloeimans to Charlottesville. For this unique event, Eric will perform as part of a duo with the remarkable accordionist Will Holshouser, who performed in Charlottesville recently with the Victory Hall Opera Company. Eric and Will are on an American tour promoting their new live album, Two For The Road. The concert will be held at the new Irving Theater, 225 West Water Street, in the CODE building on the downtown mall.

Eric and Will play evocative, folk-inspired original compositions that mix European and American influences, plus a few choice covers, such as a ballad by Prince. These two virtuoso musicians use the intimacy of the duo setting to full effect: lush trumpet and accordion textures, catchy melodies, energetic improvising abound. With elements of jazz, chamber, and world music, this pair is hard to classify.
