Leni Stern Contemplates the World Turning, March 2

Guitarist and vocalist Leni Stern will call in to WTJU this Friday afternoon, March 2, around 12:30 from somewhere around the globe for a chat with World Turning host John Bates. They might even talk about her concert the following night at UVA’s Brooks Hall, sponsored by WTJU and the Charlottesville Jazz Society.
After a long career leading jazz groups that included Michael Brecker and Bill Frisell, Leni began studying African rhythms and melodies with musicians in Senegal. For this concert she brings her Senegalese band mates on bass and percussion.
