The Jean Jeanies Live at WTJU’s 65th Anniversary Celebration
By WTJU
Friday, June 10, 8 – 9 p.m., WTJU presents the energetic Jean Jeanies live on the Stage in celebration of 65 years of community radio. The Jean Jeanies combine local and long-distance talent to deliver inspired classic Bowie tunes with glam, glitter, and guitar shreds. From 5 – 8 p.m., prior to the live music, there will be an open house at the station with tours, light fare, and beverages. This is a free event, open to all, at 2244 Ivy Rd. Masks are encouraged for the live audience. You can also listen to the live broadcast from 8 – 9 p.m. on 91.1 FM, stream via wtju.net, and video stream on WTJU’s Facebook & YouTube channels.
The Jean Jeanies are:
- Nikki West on Vocals (Owner of Staunton’s Ciders from Mars; in DC band, Nethers)
- Randy Scope on Drums (visiting from MD; in Washington Social Club)
- Nick Rubin on keyboards (WTJU Rock DJ; in Charlottesville band, New Boss)
- Thomas Dean on Bass (Cville screen printer, artist, and producer; in local bands New Boss, Good Dog Nigel, Invisible Hand, and Order)
- Marshall Costan on Guitar (visiting from RVA; in The Awesome Few, The Sums, and State Yelling Champion).
Let’s dance at the WTJU Stage!
The Radio Relics exhibit in the WTJU micro-museum camper will also be open, tracing WTJU’s storied history of broadcasting through curated photos, artifacts, and t-shirts, spanning more than six decades.
