Introducing Federico Cilliberto
Author: WTJU
Many of us have already had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Federico Cilliberto, and we are delighted to welcome him to WTJU’s Classical Department. He has already done his first show – on Sunday evening, November 2.
Federico hails from Florence, Italy, and holds both Italian and US citizenship. He is a professor in UVA’s Department of Economics, where he is currently Director of Graduate Studies. Federico has degrees from the Università di Firenze and Northwestern University. In his spare time, he enjoys hiking in the Shenandoah National Park and the George Washington National Forest, visiting museums and galleries, and listening to WTJU of course!
Federico has been listening to classical music since the early times, when he would wake up very early in the morning as his mother turned on the radio to listen to “Radio 3,” one of the Italian public radio stations. There was something about Bach’s harpsichord concertos that would just get him out of bed to go to school. Federico enjoys listening to music at all times of the day, and he loves any type of classical music, from Beatritz de Dia to John Cage. Now Federico finds Bach’s harpsichord music as delightful as ever.
To Federico, we say Un benvenuto molto speciale!
