Folk & Beyond’s Best of the Worst, June 18

Coming up Thursday afternoon, June 18, from 4-6 on WTJU, Folk & Beyond will deliver the “Best of the Worst.” WTJU is one of the few places on the radio dial where you don’t get inundated with the worst of the pop tunes. But what if talented artists covered some of the worst pop tunes? From Nickel Creek and Richard Thompson covering Britney Spears, to Trampled By Turtles doing an Arcade Fire tune, to of course Central Virginia’s own Love Canon covering all sorts of 80s pop, there will be something for everyone.
Why are they doing it? To help raise funds to keep WTJU on the airwaves. Their goal is $1,200. That is just ten people each making a $10 monthly recurring pledge for one year.
