Digging into Dolly & the Devil’s Festival Season on WTJU, June 11

Dolly & the Devil is a pseudonym for a collection of old-time musicians. The name came to life during the making of “Festival Season”, a double CD concept album of old-time fiddle and banjo tunes recorded by twenty different musicians from the mid-Atlantic states in four recording sessions during the pandemic in the summer of 2020. They aimed at capturing of the spirit of old-time music as played in festival camp site jam sessions, and, considering the caliber of musicianship on display, they succeeded admirably.

Rick and Joanne Davidson, who spearheaded the production of ‘Festival Season’, will stop by Sunset Road on friday June 11th at 4 pm (edt) to talk about and play cuts from the album, and clue you in to what the fuss is all about! Sunset Road is heard Friday afternoons from 4-6 (edt) at 91.1 FM, streaming at wtju.net, or by asking your smart speaker to “Play WTJU.”
