Sunset Road pays tribute to Dick Harrington

Coming up this Friday afternoon on WTJU, Sunset Road host Pete will pay tribute to Dick Harrington, who passed away December 9. Dick was a beloved local old-time musician, a member of a number of noteworthy local string bands (including in his later years, Troublesome Creek String Band, Afton Mountain String Band, The Albemarle Ramblers, Crossroads String Band, Dick Harrington and Victoria Young, Dick Harrington and Alex Caton), an author, a member of the founding faculty of Piedmont Virginia Community College (where he spent decades as Professor of English Composition), and most importantly, a proud father and grandpa. Pete will play from Dick’s commercially recorded albums and informal recordings, as well as his past appearances at benefit shows and on WTJU. As a special treat, Pete will be joined during the program by Pete Vigour, a longtime friend and collaborator with Dick.
