Jason Groth of Magnolia & Johnson Electric Co. Joins Baconfat on Fantastic Expedition

DJ Baconfat will be interviewing Jason Groth of Magnolia & Johnson Electric Co. on Fantastic Expedition the day after Thanksgiving and prior to the band’s appearance at The Southern Cafe & Music Hall on December 11. Jason played in the original Magnolia Electric Co. band with Jason Molina (also of Songs: Ohia) and is currently in the band The Coke Dares. He’s also played with Tobin Sprout of Guided By Voices.
Magnolia & Johnson Electric Co. – with many former members of Magnolia Electric Co. (Mike Brenner, Jason Groth, Michael Kapinus, Mark Rice, and Pete Schreiner) – is a project that brings the songs of Jason Molina to current audiences. The group convened in Texas earlier this year to record new studio versions of both Molina’s and Johnson’s songs. Will Johnson did a collaborative album with Jason Molina in 2009, and was in the bands Centro-Matic and South San Gabriel. He’s been making records under his own name for years, and is currently in Jason Isbell’s band, The 400 Unit.
