Host Profile: Alice Clair
By WTJU
Name: Alice Clair
Show: Coming to the Stage, Tuesdays 4 – 7 p.m.
Day Job: Assistant Account Manager at Musictoday
How long have you been a host at WTJU?
I’ve been DJing at WTJU since June of 2019, but I began as a sound engineer the summer of 2016. I was a DJ for WXTJ for 3 years and was the director of WXTJ from 2018-2019.
Why did you become a WTJU host?
My goal in attending college was to be involved with the radio station. I suppose you could say it has snowballed since then! It means a lot to me to connect in this way with the community. As a DJ, musician, student, and listener, it is an honor to program three hours of music every week for my community.
Why should someone tune into your show in particular? What do you want to share with the world?
Coming to the Stage, formerly Around This Town (and always a Full Send Blend), has a focus towards live acts coming to the area. In a pivot driven by the pandemic, I now focus on live acts you can catch in the area AND online, whether it is a livestream or previously unreleased concert footage. I try to include live recordings every week, and one wonderful aspect of this show is the constant change and evolution.
Tell us about one of your biggest gaffs while in the studio:
Once I had to take a phone call from my dog’s vet – turns out that my listeners got to hear some of my concerns about my dog at the time. Oops!
Why does WTJU matter?
WTJU matters because people care about it. As I always say, we are here for our listeners, and the listeners are the reason why we are here!
Would you rather be trapped in an elevator with a banjo player, a bagpipes player, or an accordion player?
All three at once
