WorldView debuts on Charlottesville Classical, Mon Feb 28

How many classical composers do you know by name? How many of those are from Asia? Africa? Australia? Greetings all! My name is Hinke Younger, and I am proud to present a new show, WorldView, on Charlottesville Classical from WTJU. WorldView features composers from everywhere in the world—with the exception of Western Europe. Tune in to hear works by lesser-known artists such as Bright Sheng and Undine Smith Moore, and widen your knowledge of classical music. I host each week’s episode on Mondays at 9am, with a rebroadcast at 6pm, here on charlottesvilleclassical.org!

I started volunteering with WTJU’s Classical Department in the summer of 2021, and I very quickly discovered that the world of classical composers is much larger than I had anticipated. I began a deep dive into eclectic classical music from a range of composers I had never heard on the radio before, and soon started researching and producing episodes of WorldView. My goal with this series is to introduce you to composers and styles you may not have heard before, and hopefully bring them into conversations around the history (and future) of classical music.

The first episode of WorldView, airing February 28th at 9am, features works by Alberto Ginastera, Béla Bařtók, Florence Beatrice Price, Esa Salonen, and more.

Listen live at CharlottesvilleClassical.org. I hope you’ll join me and start on a journey around the world of classical music. Thank you!
