North Carolina artists Susan Pepper and Ash Devine will stop by WTJU on Thursday afternoon, August 9, at 4:30 (edt) for a live session ahead of a private concert in the Charlottesville area.
Solo artists Ash Devine and Susan Pepper come together with an aim to make old mountain singing resonate in the present day. The core of their show is a strong blend of harmony singing as well as a passion for Western North Carolina song traditions. They present an upbeat, energetic show featuring ballads and folk songs from Madison County and other local areas as well as Carter Family songs. Their voices rise above the backdrop of their easy and traditionally styled banjo, guitar, dulcimer and ukulele playing. Stick around and you’ll occasionally here an unaccompanied ballad.
