Karen Jonas EP Release at Offbeat Roadhouse, August 20

Award winning country and americana act Karen Jonas and her band will pull into Offbeat Roadhouse Friday night, August 20, for a concert which will also be broadcast on WTJU.  They are releasing their new EP, Summer Songs, that very day.

This is a free event, open to all. Masks are required for all attendees.  You can also listen to Offbeat Roadhouse on the radio (91.1 FM) or on-line, and even video stream it.  But concerts always sound better with you as part of the studio audience.

Offbeat Roadhouse takes place each Friday night from 8-9 (doors open at 7:30) from WTJU’s performance venue, conveniently located at 2244 Ivy Road in Charlottesville (right next to Vivace Restaurant).

Karen Jonas is a two-time Wammie (Washington Area Music Award) Award winner for Best Country and Americana Artist, Mid Atlantic Song Contest winner, Ameripolitan Award (Best Honky Tonk) nominee, and official SXSW and UK Americanafest Showcasing Artist. Playing upwards of 150 shows annually since her debut in 2014, Karen has released five albums to international acclaim. Her live shows comprise her own award-winning songs, modern Americana, and classic country favorites. “Summer Songs,” a four-song EP and “Gumballs,” a book of poems by Karen Jonas, will be available everywhere August 20, 2021. Known for her sultry vocals, stellar songwriting, and compelling stage presence, Karen harkens back to her songwriting heroes Joni Mitchell and Bob Dylan, with a sonic nod to modern greats like Gillian Welch and Jason Isbell. Her long-time collaboration with dazzling guitarist Tim Bray, joined by bassist/vocalist Seth Morrissey and drummer Seth Brown, has produced five full-length records, beginning with 2014’s internationally-acclaimed “Oklahoma Lottery.” 2020’s much-lauded “The Southwest Sky and Other Dreams” is a gutting but “warmly nostalgic” (American Songwriter) masterpiece – proof of Karen’s ability to weave creative depth into everyday stories. Covered by everyone from Rolling Stone Germany to Country Music People UK to American Songwriter, Karen’s investment in artistic excellence continues to pay off with her upcoming release.
