mead the dear at WTJU, presented by Third Rail

By WTJU Rock

Date: 05/16/2026

Time: 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Saturday, May 16, 8 – 9 p.m., Third Rail presents cosmic country rockers, mead the dear. This free event is open to all at 2244 Ivy Rd. You can also listen on 91.1 FM, stream via wtju.net, and video stream on WTJU’s YouTube channel.

mead the dear is the ensemble mask of songwriter Michael Hirsch, a Richmond, VA, native. His style, while uniquely his own, has been most directly informed by the delicate and cunning poet musicians of the folk revival, the crooked grit of Appalachian old time tunes, the timeless tenor of classic podunk country, the summer of love psychedelia, and the downtrodden free spirit of rock n roll. The band is on track for several single releases this summer, with their freshman album release early this fall.

Third Rail is supported locally by Hello Goodbye Records, now at 108 4th Street, Northwest, in Downtown Charlottesville. Details at hellogooodbyemusic.com.
