By WTJU Rock

Date: 03/24/2026

Time: 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Andrew Kahrl will be interviewing historian Katherine Rye Jewell on the next edition of Ye Olde Tuesday Afternoon Rocke Show. They will be discussing Kate’s award-winning book Live From the Underground: A History of College Radio and her work on the history of independent radio, public media, and the cultural politics and business of popular music in modern America. Listen on 91.1 FM or stream at wtju.net.

Live From the Underground: A History of College Radio is the first national history of college radio in the United States. This award-winning book unearths the origins of the beloved yet often understood medium of college radio. This research builds on her experience as a political historian interested in how region and culture shape the implementation of policy, captured in her first book, Dollars for Dixie: Business and the Transformation of Conservatism in the Twentieth Century.
