Blue Monday is Manchester Monday

By WTJU Rock

Date: 06/08/2026

Time: 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

This week Blue Monday is all things Manchester! DJ Fontana Mercury will be featuring highlights of an interview with British singer and Factory Records recording artist, Alan Hempsall, formerly of Crispy Ambulance and now with the electronic duo Scissorgun (with Dave Clarkson).

Hear tales of Hempsall attending the very first Sex Pistols show at the Lesser Free Trade Hall, and the Bury Hall Riot, where Alan stood in as lead singer for Ian Curtis of Joy Division, resulting in a riot and one heck of a story.

The program will also focus on music associated with Factory Records & the infamous FAC51 The Haçienda, and include Joy Division, Crispy Ambulance, OMD, A Certain Ratio, Section 25, Durutti Column, and more known and lesser known tunes!
