Five Great Obsessions of 2025:
These are not new albums or tracks I couldn’t play just once. Or just twice. Or just . .

Quadrophenia – The Who. I had forgotten what a great collection of music this is. The album was panned by the critics before it came out because nothing in their eyes could possibly surpass Tommy. Wrong!

Love Reign O’er Me is the standout track. The film is really sad, although I couldn’t help smiling at Sting who looked a complete drip, but obviously he had the last laugh after forming The Police. But wow, Pete Townsend was an incredible songwriter.

Hold your Head Up – Argent. I played this in the middle of the night and one treasured listener phoned up in delight and sang along, I mean how can you not singalong? Hold Your Head High!

Retrospective – Bryan Ferry. This is a 5CD set of music by Bryan Ferry and Roxy Music. Check out the clip clop track, ‘Bob Dylan’s Dream’ or’ I Thought’ written with Brian Eno.

I’d Be Surprisingly Good For You – Act. A song from Evita. Surprisingly good.

You’re My World – Cilla Black. So much passion in this song.

The Boat That I Row – Lulu. I kept finding Lulu albums in the record shops and played them all, again and again.

Annie De Blanco co-hosts Merging With the Night, Wednesdays, 1 1 p.m. – 1 a.m.
