Virginia News, Summer 2010

Virginia News, Summer 2010

Thanks a million to the two very talented producer/newscasters who stepped up to carry Virginia News through the summer.

Anna Duensing
Christian Binder

Charlottesville resident Christian Binder, who produced Virginia News on Thursdays and Fridays this summer, is returning to Elon University this fall.  As a sophomore, he will be hosting One on One Sports, a television show broadcast at Elon.  Additionally, he will be hosting and appearing on several sports talk radio shows on WSOE 89.3 FM, Elon's student-run radio station. He extends his well wishes to WTJU moving forward and thanks everyone for the wonderful opportunity he had this summer.

Anna Duensing, producer for Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, is a Charlottesville resident who joins WTJU from the Gallatin School at New York University. Back in New York she hosts Talkin’ Folk City, a two-hour folk music show on the university’s student-run station, WNYU. She also produces news updates for the station’s current events program, Citywide. Anna is currently studying storytelling, documentary, literature and historiography, and dreams of one day following in the footsteps of her long-time radio idol Ira Glass. Anna says she will sorely miss WTJU and the kindness and dedication of its staff and volunteers.

The dedication and professionalism Anna and Christian brought to their work these past few months not only enabled WTJU to continue the Virginia News throughout the summer, but the quality of the daily programs they each produced was truly outstanding! Best of luck to you, Anna and Christian! We’d be thrilled to have you both here again in the future, and wouldn’t be surprised to perhaps be saying one day “we knew you when!”
