on Around This Town

Tuesday, October 30, 2012

5 pm (edt)

Scuffletown members John Whitlow and Marc Carraway will stop by Around This Town to play a few tunes, and to also chat about their involvement with the Second Annual Dance for Life Benefit at the Southern on Friday, November 2.  Also performing that night will be the Gladstones.

Scuffletown is an acoustic duo featuring singer/songwriter Marc Carraway and multi-instrumentalist John Whitlow. This duo joined forces in early 2000 and has been featured at festivals and concerts settings throughout the mid-Atlantic region.

Three years ago Marty Whitlow, wife of Scuffletown member John Whitlow, was told she was in very advanced stages of ovarian cancer. Mounting a courageous battle which involved major surgery and an aggressive regime of chemotherapy, Marty's cancer today remains in remission. In order to show her gratitude for the outstanding care she received at the University of Virginia's Women's Cancer Center, she has established the Marty Whitlow Ovarian Cancer Fund to raise awareness about ovarian cancer and to support research and treatment for women affected by ovarian in our home community. All proceeds from this evening go directly to this very worthwhile cause.
