WTJU Listener Appreciation Party

2006 Spring Marathon!

It's ALL here:

Broadway - Classical - Reggae - Jazz - Blues
Soul - World Music - Folk - Rock

WTJU 91.1 FM invites you to join us March 31st through April 9th as we bring ten days of special programming to your ears... wherever they may be: in the car, in your home, in your office, or sitting at your computer listening to us at The rock and folk announcers have teamed up to bring you three days of special programming in rock, folk, world and roots music Friday, March 31st through Sunday, April 2nd. This celebration of all things rock and folk will feature fun and exciting programs such as rock from New Zealand and Sweden; Krautrock and German electronica; rock and Americana from Texas and Louisiana; a folk-meets-rock free-for-all; a smorgasbord of world music; and programs that feature artists such as the Carter Family, Chuck Berry, the Beau Brummels, Bonnie Raitt, the Legendary Pink Dots; and a live performance by the talented, award-winning Darrell Scott on March 31st.

Following the three-day feast of folk and rock programming, you'll be treated to a week's worth of special programs by your favorite announcers in their regular time slots. The purpose of the ten-day celebration is to have fun and encourage you to pledge your financial support of WTJU. Support from you, our dedicated listeners, allows us to do what we love... broadcast this music to your sophisticated ears each and every day.

Now for a personal note: after five years as folk music director at WTJU, I am stepping down. I've had a blast in this position and have been honored to meet so many interesting artists, volunteers and, most of all, listeners like you! I'm not leaving WTJU... I just need to devote more time to my other family, all of whom have been so supportive of me in this endeavor.

I'd like to thank the numerous volunteers in the WTJU family who've given their time to make this fund-raiser happen: Brandy Savarese, George Dayton, Matt Best, Rebecca Foster, Tim Snider, David Eisenman, Gayle Poirier, Jane MacDonald, Rob Nowicki, Morgan McLeod and production staff, and of course Chuck Taylor III. Special thanks go to Jon Langford and Archer Prewitt for their artwork used on the t-shirts and program guide!

I hope you enjoy this fundraiser... so tune in, sit back, and give us a call at 434-924-3418 or 434-924-3959!

Matt Combs
